• Topic: The Long Journey to Health Equity: A Candid Conversation about Public Health in Philadelphia
Overview: Many Philadelphia communities experienced health inequities prior to the pandemic; COVID-19 only served to exacerbate pre-existing barriers to quality healthcare. Community leaders, researchers, healthcare workers, students and non-profits worked to identify inequities and implement solutions to enhance the health of these communities.
Objectives: Ms. Simmons will discuss the long journey to health equity, its successes and failures along the way, and how the pandemic provided opportunities to innovate methods to improve the health of Philadelphia communities.
