Membership
SoCRA membership is available to all clinical research professionals who work with
cooperative research groups, academic and private institutions, pharmaceutical and
biotechnology companies, device manufacturers, CROs, SMOs, independent research and
development organizations, and those who are involved in the management of clinical
trials.
If you work with clinical trials supporting the research institution or manufacturer of
a new drug, product, or treatment regimen, then you are a clinical research professional.
Whether called an investigator, monitor, auditor, data manager, clinical coordinator,
research nurse, or research professional - you are an integral part of the research team.
SoCRA's members work in ALL fields of research. A common bond exists among those
involved in all areas of the clinical research professional's responsibilities, such as;
dealing with informed consents, institutional review boards, medical ethics, and
regulatory issues. With changes occurring daily in the health-care field, we must all stay
abreast of the latest developments and practices which affect us. SoCRA is the national
organization with a mission for education and information exchange.
SoCRA has adopted an Ethics Statement for its members. As clinical research
professionals, we must recognize our responsibilities to follow ethical principles when
participating in clinical trials. Please sign the Ethics
Statement and submit it with your SoCRA membership
application.

SoCRA 2009 Election Results
President Elect - Angela R. Kimel, MBA, CCRP

Clinical research is a complex and exciting field for everyone involved. Through my various positions
and activities, I have gained first-hand experience in many areas of research and have learned how everyone involved
must work together to ensure project success. New researchers are entering the field every day, and they should be
encouraged, supported, and educated in this fast-paced, ever-changing field.
It is very rewarding to see the impact of your encouragement as colleagues make successful career moves and discover
new growth opportunities. As Secretary for the Board of Directors, I continually promote our organization and work hard
to persuade our members to share their talents by becoming involved with SoCRA on a national level. As President, I will
continue to represent SoCRA, supporting our members nationally and internationally as they strive to make a difference
for others in our field.
Treasurer - Susan Devine, CCRP

I am delighted to have been nominated to a second term as Treasurer and would be honored to serve. My vision remains unchanged; without the individuals who facilitate clinical research, the best scientific discoveries could not be brought forward to those who need them. The role of Treasurer allows me opportunity to support SoCRA members by advocating a financial position that remains sufficiently robust to support member education and certification opportunities. During my initial term, I initiated a review of SoCRA’s educational programs confirming their success and providing a benchmark for future measure of SoCRA programming. Career experience in research facilitation of a large clinical trials unit has provided many opportunities for me to function in a financial oversight and review capacity; skills that I would continue to use as SoCRA Treasurer. If elected, I will continue
to be a voice on the board that balances growth with sufficient caution to ensure continued highest quality products and services with reasonable access for our membership. Thank you for your consideration.
Director - Joyce M. Arnold-Avant, AAS, CCRP (Three-year Term)

SoCRA members have diverse levels of involvement in clinical research and drug development and
are all privy, at one level or another, to new information in clinical research. Through SoCRA, we have unique exposure
to those varied facets of clinical research. The challenge then among members, is to tap that knowledge and share it
as much as possible, so that we all are better equipped on a daily basis. Becoming a member of the SoCRA Board of Directors has allowed me a broader opportunity to assist in that critical CCRP education and training. Clinical research is
a challenge for us all. I look forward to the challenge.
Director - Wendy Lloyd, BA, LPN, CCRP, CIP (Three-year Term)

Working as a research coordinator, IRB protocol analyst, and a Compliance Specialist has provided me with a broad view of challenges that research professionals face. My goal is to promote quality research by facilitating opportunities for research professionals to expand knowledge on issues such as regulatory mandates, research ethics, business strategies, operational goals, and leadership. The research profession is always evolving, and I believe that education is key to successful change. Becoming a member of the Board of Directors will allow me to provide input based on a variety of experiences and participate in the development and promotion of educational opportunities to enhance research conduct and leadership.
Director - Daniel Redline, BA, CCRP, CCRC (Three-year Term)

SoCRA is well-known and established as a clinical research organization for professional certification and continuing education, and the organization has been instrumental in strengthening my own research knowledge and advancing my career in clinical research. As a member of the Board of Directors, I plan to give back to SoCRA and the general membership by contributing my experience, leadership, and dedication to the strategic growth and development of the organization through the numerous educational events and outreach activities throughout the year. I will achieve this by closely collaborating with the Officers and other Directors to accomplish our goals and ensure our collective organizational success.
Director - Ann Von Worley, RN, BSHS, CCRP (One-year Term)

Having recognized the need of a local venue to foster educational opportunities for SoCRA members, I organized and guided SoCRA’s New Mexico Chapter. This has brought together local research professionals and added value to the knowledge-base of the local members. With the advances in technology and expansion of research to fields such as genomics, many research challenges are evolving for the SoCRA membership. As a member of the Board of Directors, I look forward to contributing to the development of programs that will advance the membership personally and professionally.
