2020 Election Results
Abby Statler, PhD, MPH, MA, CCRP
Director, Research Quality and Safety
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center,
Over the past decade my experiences as a Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) member, Board Member, speaker, and poster presenter have been truly inspiring. The profound impact SOCRA has on the clinical research community is incredible; the organization’s continued ability to promote quality clinical research across the full spectrum of professional careers is extraordinary. As I look towards the future, I envision SOCRA will continue to be the leader in clinical research education and certification. If elected President, I intend to ensure the organization maintains this position, while promoting the implementation of new innovative initiatives, designed to keep pace with the ever-evolving clinical research landscape. I believe it is essential the organization pioneer the development and implementation of modern educational offerings, specifically designed to support the professional growth of the membership. Over the last several years I have worked with the presidents, board members, and members, on the strategic direction of SOCRA; while actively contributing to this collaborative effort, I developed a deep understanding of SOCRA’s mission, which has positioned me well to facilitate the organization’s future growth. My knowledge and unequivocal enthusiasm for SOCRA will provide the necessary energy, inspiration, and expertise to elevate the organization’s contributions to the clinical research community. It is an honor to be nominated for President Elect of the Society for Clinical Research Associates, I am truly humbled and thank you for your consideration.
Virginia L. Doran, MLT, BS, MBA, CCRP
Senior Administrator, Study Submissions & Regulatory Affairs
Clinical Research Services, Roswell Park Cancer Institute
As a proud member of the SOCRA organization since 2004 and a certified clinical research professional since 2005, it is an honor to be nominated for the Office of Secretary. SOCRA has been instrumental in providing career development by offering quality educational programs. I have supported the SOCRA mission to provide quality education by creating a local Chapter in 2011 and serving as the local Chapter Chair. Together with a team of dedicated local professionals, we have consistently brought educational programs to the Western New York area. As an elected Director in 2017, it was my pleasure to serve on the Board of Directors and to be able to contribute and become more involved in the strategic force of the organization. As Secretary, I plan to continue to support the organization with professionalism by engaging in discussions and volunteering my service and organizational skills to create and maintain appropriate and accurate documentation.
Jennifer L. Bryant, MPA, CCRP, Director
Westat, Clinical Trials Practice
As a member of SOCRA for 14 years, I have obtained a great deal of information about clinical research in a variety of disciplines with many different populations, building a strong foundation for my experience with the road map to designing and implementing successful research. I am happy to have had the chance to share my clinical research expertise at SOCRA Annual Conferences through poster presentations and as a speaker.
As a member of the Board of Directors, I would contribute to the SOCRA agenda by sharing my experience in supporting clinical sites located in global resource-limited settings where capacity-building is required; establishing strong working relations with multiple U.S. Government contractors and collaborators who need to work together; and providing guidance to clinical sites to encourage high performance that meets expectations for GCP/HSP compliance and data integrity I look forward to also continuing to learn from SOCRA members and the Board of Directors.
Alyssa K. Gateman, MPH, CCRP
Associate Director, Quality Assurance
Yale Center for Clinical Investigation, Yale University
New Haven, CT
I believe education and training are essential to quality research, which protects the rights, safety and welfare of human subjects. SOCRA’s membership, educational courses and certification allowed me to gain a solid foundation early in my research career. As the former Boston SOCRA Chapter Chair and now the current founding Greater New Haven SOCRA Chapter Chair, I strive to meet the continuing education needs and to foster professional development of regional SOCRA members. As a director on the Board of Directors, I would enjoy the opportunity to continue this work, but with a broader span of influence, in order to ensure SOCRA members are well prepared and have the tools to conduct quality research in the face of current and future research challenges.
Jessica L. Rowe, MA, MS, CCRP
Human Research Protection Program Manager
Emig Research Center, WellSpan Health
Throughout my career I have supported biomedical and social behavioral clinical research development/coordination, research administration activities, human research protection program management, regulatory oversight, and research education. My experience has allowed me to live my career passion in research education and human subject protections. I firmly believe that continued education and industry networking are essential to the success of research. My involvement in SOCRA over the past decade has informed my belief in the power of education and community and I appreciate how the organization’s mission aligns with my passion.
It would be a privilege to serve as a member of the SOCRA Board of Directors. My background, experience, and passion for the field and for education, offer me a firm foundation to contribute to the organization and meet the needs of members in a meaningful way. I would welcome the opportunity to be a part of a Board that is passionate about developing an educational agenda that aligns with the current research climate and that anticipates future challenges.
