New and Innovative Research, Same Old Common Rule

Recent innovations, scientific progress, and emerging fields, including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence, big data, psychedelics, and decentralized trials, have presented new challenges for protecting the rights and welfare of human research participants. This presentation will explore ways in which the Common Rule can be applied to reviewing new trends in research involving human subjects and offer insights on the way the 46.111 review criteria could be applied to all research - new innovative, and as traditional as one gets. 429
