Title:  Role of the Investigational Drug Service (IDS) in the Management of Investigational Drugs

 Objectives: 

  1. Understand the basic components of managing the accountability of investigational drugs
  2. Understand the regulatory framework that governs the management of investigational drugs
  3. Understand the role of the IDS in the management of investigational drugs

About the Speaker:   Robin Sculthorpe, Coordinator for VCU Health Investigational Drug Services. VCU Health IDS ensures and monitors the overall integrity, safety, rationality, and effectiveness of the drug use control process for all investigational drugs at VCU Health.  Since 1993, VCU Health IDS has overseen >1600 VCU Clinical Drug Trials.  Robin has developed and/or implemented computer systems to manage investigational drug accountability and temperature monitoring for investigational drugs.  She has developed and revised institutional written policies and procedures relating to the appropriate use of investigational drugs and participated in achievement and maintenance of AAHRPP accreditation (American Association for Human Research Protections Program).  Robin is a past member of the VCU Institutional Review Board and maintains current CITI Human Subjects Research and GCP training.
