Dr. Albert Kligman and the Holmesburg Prison Experiments

Speaker: Brandy M. Fox, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Medical Humanities & Bioethics; Clinical Ethicist (UAMS & Arkansas Children’s Hospital [ACH]); Department of Medical Humanities & Bioethics; UAMS College of Medicine

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn the history behind Dr. Kligman’s experiments.
  2. Discuss factors to be considered when conducting research with prisoners.
  3. Explore misconceptions / miscommunications surrounding informed consent.
  4. Gain a better understanding of how to perform ethical research.

CE: SOCRA members may claim one CE credit for each hour of educational programming attended. In accordance with SOCRA accreditation standards, members must attend a minimum of 50 minutes of a one-hour session to qualify for 1 CEU. CE certificates are generally distributed within 10 business days following the event.
