Speaker: Casey Jackson, MS, CCRP

Description: Casey Jackson, MS, CCRP, UMSON Director of Research, QI and Compliance, Baltimore SOCRA chapter chair, and SOCRA Director of the Board, will be discussing the differences between Quality Improvement initiatives and Human Subjects Research studies, their relational importance to each other, the regulatory importance for their distinction, and how to ease the burden of obtaining a non-human subjects research determination for QI projects from an authoritative reviewer. This session is intended for a wide audience and provides insights on the importance of their distinction on implementation science, regulatory appropriateness, and publication accuracy.

Objectives:

  1. Understand the differences between Quality Improvement initiatives and Human Subjects Research studies
  2. Understand their relational importance to each other, the regulatory importance for their distinction
  3. Learn how to ease the burden of obtaining a non-human subjects research determination for QI projects from an authoritative reviewer.
