Presenter

Silas Bussman, MBA, MPH

Silas Bussmann, MPH, MBA, is a lecturer in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He began his career as a research assistant in 2010 and became a clinical research manager in 2012. He currently serves as the Associate Director of Research in Emergency Medicine, facilitates the Health Sciences Research Staff Network, and instructs the Research in Acute Care Course track offered by the UNM Emergency Medical Services Academy. Mr. Bussmann's primary focus is on human subjects research education, research workforce development and research management in emergency medical settings. He busies himself most days with mentorship of undergraduates, medical students, medical residents and early stage investigators in the performance of high quality human subjects research in a clinical setting.

Objectives:

  • Discuss the scope and context of emergency medicine (EM)
  • Discuss the challenged of research in EM
  • Discuss lessons within the functions of management
  • Research education/mentorship

One CEU will be available for this presentation.
