Data Harmonization in Clinical Research:
Standardizing Outcomes Across Multiple Studies and EDC Platforms

Objective(s):

1. To outline the process and best practices for harmonizing clinical trial data by mapping variable data from different studies and electronic data capture (EDC) systems, such as REDCap, to common standardized outcome measures ensuring consistency across heterogeneous datasets.
2. To demonstrate strategies for exporting, transforming, and standardizing study data with varying variables but the same clinical outcomes to enable reliable cross-study comparisons and integrated analyses that support robust evidence generation.
3. To discuss challenges and solutions in clinical data harmonization including variable mapping complexities, data quality preservation, interoperability between EDC platforms, and the role of common data elements and metadata standards in optimizing data integration.
