David was nominated for Clinical Trials Day because he is an outstanding leader and invaluable component in the Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital Pediatric Cardiology Research Core. As stated by his nominators, “David is a, if not the, key cog in that research enterprise. David’s clear skill sets include organization, thoughtfulness, clear communication, curiosity, personability, institutional memory in research processes, and an enthusiasm that is positively infectious. David is quite capable of discerning when flexibility is required with research processes, and with research personnel, but is also well aware of those core principles that cannot be compromised.” David has continued to grow in his role starting as a research assistant into a well-deserved leadership position. He now trains new research hires and coordinates research projects from multiple studies in a range of specialties across the center.

Aryn Knight, BS, CCRP

Today on Clinical Trials Day we're honoring Aryn Knight. Aryn was nominated for being a positive force in clinical research education. She compiles and maintains a list of month educational opportunities for clinical research professionals and collaborates in numerous educational seminars, webinars, workshops and so much more. As stated by her nominator, "We all have benefited from Aryn's selfless service and contribution to SOCRA Members. We are honored to have her in our chapter." Aryn is a very involved SOCRA Member - she has served as a Chapter Chairperson for the Houston Galveston Chapter since 2013. She also serves on the Certification Committee and the Job Task Analysis Committee. It is clear that clinical research education and mentorship are a passion for Aryn and we're honored to have such a passionate and engaged member.

Suzanne Phillips was nominated for Clinical Trials Day being an outstanding Clinical Trials Nurse. As stated by her nominator, “It is her continued efforts that make her stand out as a shining star in our team – not only is she dedicated to her patients and protocols, but also to the team, sharing her experiences and knowledge.” Suzanne has a love of science and understanding of the ‘why’ of clinical trials which makes her a natural clinical research nurse. Her patients describe her as kind, caring, professional, competent, compassionate, and optimistic, one who excels in communication skills and problem-solving and has a calming presence.

Connie was nominated for Clinical Trials Day for being an outstanding advocate for participants in clinical research. Her nominator stated that “She demonstrates on a daily basis her willingness to work for the good of all those who give selflessly of themselves. Through her unending generosity of time and resources, the SOCRA Western Michigan Chapter has benefited.” In her current capacity as Director of the Cancer Research Consortium of West Michigan (CRCWM), she guides the path through difficult transitions as the field changes. Connie is always ahead of the pack – “She seeks out answers to questions that haven’t yet been thought of.” Connie is also a SOCRA speaker at our Annual Oncology Clinical Trials Conference and is a great asset to the roster of speakers.
